Hello, everyone!

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support of our club and newly appointed officers!

Last Saturday was the Region 10 Banquet hosted by TIRA and was a beautiful event and we thank everyone for all of the effort put in to make sure we had a celebration worthy of our champions!

Seattle Drag & Ski was given the opportunity to host the Hospitality Hour before the main event - this was our first event with our new crew taking the charge and were very pleased with the turnout! We could not have made any of it happen without our past leaders who continue to work by our side to make this as smooth of a transition as possible! We had a great turn out and quite a few members joining for the first time as well as returning members!

With memberships on the mind, I want to take this chance to remind all drivers you MUST be a member of a club with proof of membership to fill out your entry blank for any race. You still have time to get applications in! The forms are here on our website (www.seattledragandski.com click on the join button above and then membership application) and have an updated address to mail them in! If you have a scanner, they can also be sent to alexandra.m.harper@gmail.com. We are still in the process of getting our membership cards printed with our new Commodore signature so, as soon as they are in hand, they will be mailed out to the address provided on your applications!

Just a couple other quick reminders -

December 3rd at 10am will be our annual club truck party at Dick Price's house - this is our one chance to all get together, make sure our equipment is cleaned, sturdy, and ready for a great new year. All hands on deck and we can get it knocked out quickly!

Lastly, our next general meeting will be on Wednesday, December 7th, 7pm, at the Golden Steer in Kent. This meeting will be the voting of our board members, and while the nominations are now closed, you may still provide write-ins on your ballet.

The nominations for the 4 available board positions are as follows:

Gary Dahl

Steve Aehle

Bob Schellhase

Rich Cassady

Please vote whether it be in person, or by email. Please email your vote to alexandra.m.harper@gmail.com no later than 5 p.m. on December 7th.

Thank you all again for your continued support and I look forward to serving this club and building towards the future!

Alexandra Harper
Secretary - Seattle Drag & Ski

For those contemplating the SA class here are the guidelines:

Rule: 56--Sportsman Advanced (SA) Class

SA (sportsman advance) is open to all hulls Capsule or non capsule (open boats) that meet all the current APBA runabout hull rule (Appendix A ) with a maximum speed of 105 mph (with no tolerances) . The 105 mph maximum speed will be monitored with a GPS unit in each boat. Drivers of SA must be qualified in a other runabout class.
QUALIFIED SA DRIVER REQUIREMENTS

• MUST HAVE RACED AT A MINIMUM SE ( SPORTSMAN ENTRY ) CLASS LEVEL OF 10 HEATS OR 4 RACES. (WHICHEVER COMES FIRST)

• IF STARTING IN THE SA CLASS ( SPORTSMAN ADVANCED), DRIVER MUST BE APPOINTED A MENTOR AT THE DRIVERS MEETING AT ALL RACES TO BECOME A QUALIFIED DRIVER. MENTORS MAY CHANGE FROM RACE TO RACE DEPENDING ON RACERS SCHEDULES. THIS WILL BE FOR A MINIMUM OF 10 HEATS OR MORE IF SAID REFEREE DEEMS NECCESARY. DRIVERS WILL FOLLOW REFEREE'S ROOKIE QUALIFYING RULE PROCEDURES UNTIL SA QUALIFYING is COMPLETED.

• ALL RACERS PREVIOUS TO THIS NEW CLASS THAT HAVE RACED IN SE/SS/PS/&KRR ARE AUTOMATICALLY QUALIFIED TO THE SA CLASS

56.1 General Rules
56.1.1 Maximum speed 105 mph without tolerances
56.1.2 A prop shaft release is mandatory
56.1.3 A GPS unit must be installed (out of the driver reach) before each run on the water (testing or racing). It will be the owners responsible to see that it happens. The GPS will be installed and checked by the inspector of the event or his appointed representative. GPS readings will be included on the summary sheets
56.1.4 Starts maybe clock or flag starts. For flag starts, lanes will drawn.
56.1.5 Because of the maximum speed no competition or straight away records will be attempted.
56.1.6 Minimum weight, including driver and safety equipment will be 1900#.
56.2 Hull Configuration
56.2.1 The hull must conform to the racing runabout hull requirements as specified in the technical manual for inspection of racing runabouts (Appendix A)
56.2.2 All fins shall be mounted between the chines on the underside of the boat.
56.3 Safety Equipment
56.3.1 Besides following all the APBA General Safety rules for helmets and life jackets, it will be required for all open SA Boat drivers to wear a “Head and Neck Restraint” device. This device should not be confused with the current Helmet Restraints (tether and “D” rings) that are required by drivers in other classes.

APBA will make no recommendation on which device to use at this time. This decision lies solely on the driver.

56.3.2 All open boat requires a kill switch.
56.4 Penalties for exceeding 105 mph.
56.4.1 If it is found that a boat has exceeded the 105 mph limit for the first offense a one minute penalty or last place for that heat and a $150.00 fine will be imposed.(that money would go to the race committee of the event) to be paid before they can race again. A second offense would disqualify the boat and owner for the day.
56.4.2 Failure to have a GPS installed before testing or racing at a event the boat will be disqualified for that heat.

For the 2016 racing season no APBA high points will be awarded and the driver will not be eligible for the Hall of Champions.

 The Racers Prayer...

Lord, I pray as I race today keep me safe along my way. Not only me, but the others too, as they perform the jobs they do. I know God, that in every race, I the driver must set the pace. Let me not desire more speed, warp my judgement and turn into greed From green to checkers guide me thru. Give me strength to know what to do. Remind me often in the race of life, how to cope with all the strife. Help me accept the wins I may receive, and all the defeats most graciously. Ride with me, don't allow me to lag. Guide me all the way to the checkered flag.
Amen...(。-_-。)

Welcome to the New Seattle Drag & Ski Sprint Boat Association web site.

Our Club is a very diverse Club.  Our membership covers entry level Flat Bottoms (Sportsman Entry) to top level Flats (The "K-Boats" ); the smallest hydroplanes  (1 Liters) to the largest & fastest of the hydroplanes (The Unlimiteds); a new and very active group known as the Vintage Racers; and our Safety & Rescue members (without whom the sport of organized boat racing could not happen). Rounding out our membership are folks who simply enjoy boat racing so much they become worker bees on our racing weekends; helping as crew members, race committee staff, and safety and teardown!
